Getting Paid for gaming

The TLDR:

Reaching milestones in games to earn a payout from the advertiser.

Good

  • Pay better than you might expect
  • The better games tend to pay better as well

Bad

  • Mostly mobile games, have not seen PC/Console options that looked promising
  • May be hard to find something you enjoy playing
  • May have to deal with the occasional uncredited reward
  • May contribute to wear and tear to your mobile device
  • May end up disliking a game but being committed to reaching a milestone

Expected Results

  • $100+ per month is doable
  • <$100 per month is easy

Swagbucks

Swagbucks had surprisingly decent results. Years ago I used the platform for non-gaming paid activities, and the results were not impressive at all. These days, gaming is a lot higher than I would have suspected. Acquiring users is really expensive, so outright paying people to play may not be the worst idea for game developers.

I personally enjoy mobile gaming, particularly casual games. The selection on Swagbucks is pretty good, with a bunch of popular titles on there. There's likely at least a handful of games on there you could be interested in. But there may not be a long list of games you're interested in, so after a few notable top ones you may run low on options. You ideally want to find something you'll enjoy and also pays well, which may not leave you with a ton of options. That being said, more options and continuously being added.

On the more annoying side, it's not uncommon for some milestones or games to not track rewards properly. On a few occasions I've had to reach out to customer service to get credited. Fortunately they've always been fair. I do recommend taking video of hitting key milestones in the game just in case you need to request credit for something that didn't work automatically. Most phones these days have a recording function in the settings somewhere and don't even require downloading a new app to do it.

I'd also mention that while different games have very different payouts, sometimes low payout games are easy enough to be worth the time while high payout games are too challenging to succeed. For high payout games you should expect to put a lot of hours in, and most likely spend some money to pull it off. If you want to get a $200 payback from a game, it may be well worth it, or even essential, to put at least $20 in to speed things up.

Lastly, it's worth doing a search on any game you want to try and see what other members of the community say about the game. You'll often find other Swagbucks members talking about how difficult it is or offering tips.

Gift Card Redemption

I've made $1200 in gift cards from this platform so far. I prefer to redeem for Amazon gift cards as I can directly load the balance onto my account. That way I don't need to keep track of cards, load 'em up and forget about it.

100 SB = $1, and this game netted over $200. It took me a few hours a day for about 3 weeks to finish it all. It certainly takes time, but that amount of money isn't nothing!
